Please note that 112 patients failed to attend their appointments in December equating to 25hrs 42mins being lost. Failing to attend your appointment means another patient has to wait longer to be seen. You can now cancel your appointments by phone, internet or by text.

Dr Michael H Vickers

MB ChB (Bristol 1987) DipRCPath

Dr Mike Vickers joined the practice in April 1999. He grew up in Knutsford and graduated from University of Bristol in 1987. After a variety of hospital posts, including several years training in clinical microbiology, he switched to General Practice, completing his training in Burton on Trent. His wife, Rachel is a consultant anaesthetist at Queen's Hospital, Burton and they have two daughters, Charlotte and Lucy. Outside of the practice, he is Chairman of the South Derbyshire Dales Practice Based Commissioning group and also works part-time for Derbyshire County PCT.

Dr Sarah J Smith

MB ChB (Leicester 1994) DRCOG MRCGP DCH DFFP

Dr Sarah Smith was born in London before moving to Northamptonshire at the age of 7. She graduated from Leicester University in 1994. After initial training in Paediatrics she switched to General Practice and completed her training in South Yorkshire in 1999. She joined the practice in 2000 after moving to Derby with her husband who is a local Dentist. Her medical interests include paediatrics and respiratory disease. Outside of the practice she is busily entertained by her 3 young sons, James, Sam and Rory.

Dr Helen L Lever

MB ChB (Liverpool 1998) DRCOG MRCGP DCH DFFP

Dr Helen Lever was born in the South of England. She graduated from University of Liverpool in 1998, after house-jobs she joined the Derby Vocational Training Scheme completing her General Practice Training in August 2002. Her clinical interests are rheumatology, gynaecology and family planning. Her husband Chris is an Engineer for Rolls Royce. Outside of the practice she enjoys being a Mum and tidying up after George and Rachel.

Dr Susan Ruddle
MB BS (London 1985) DRCOG FPC

Dr Sue Ruddle was born and raised in Derby and always wanted to be a Doctor. She graduated from Guy's Hospital Medical School, London in 1985 and moved back to the area to marry a rugby player she met on the Isle of Wight. After raising her children, Henry and Amy, she completed her General Practice training in 1996. She joined the practice in April 2005. Outside of Wellbrook Medical Centre she works at a Community Hospital in the Gynaecology Outpatients department as this is a special interest to her. She has a passion for cooking and eating great food, particularly with her much loved friends.
Dr Afzal Mohammed
BMedSci MBchB MRCGP

Dr Afzal Mohammed was born in West Yorkshire and graduated from Birmingham Medical School in 2002. Initially he trained in General Medicine and switched to General Practice in 2005. He joined the practice in September 2007 and is the clinical lead with regards to Diabetes and Kidney Disease, his other clinical interests include Cardiovascular medicine and Opthalmology. He lives with his wife Raffia and is kept very busy with their little boy, Tahir.
Dr Jonathan A Marsden

MBChB (Sheffield 2005) MRCGP


Dr Jonathan Marsden was born and raised in Oldham, Lancashire. He always wanted to be a GP and graduated from University of Sheffield Medical School in June 2005. After house jobs in Sheffield, he joined onto the Chesterfield Vocational Training scheme and there completed his GP training in August 2010. His medical interests include ear, nose & throat medicine. His wife, Rachel is a senior physiotherapist and they live with their pet dog Gracie. Outside of the practice, he enjoys playing cricket and going for walks.
